Pattern & Product Creation!!

 I've been working on creating my own pattern from scratch. But first, I got a lot of inspiration on patterns from the digital artist: roxannestewart.art 

I am creating a beachy themed pattern and her example really inspired me in the way she uses simple illustrations, bright colors and pinstripes as an element of repetition and symmetry. Here are her patterns below:

Then I began my own research process and put together a color palette and some ideas to get the creative process going. 

Which then switched to some digital sketching of a refined pattern:

I polished this up and took it into adobe illustrator to create a repeating vectorized pattern than can then be applied to products that anyone can order! 

Here's the finished products like a towel and beach bag which can bought from websites like vista print and custom ink! 

I learned a lot about how to spread out vector objects in order for the pattern to appear in a repeating way seamlessly. I also learned a lot about how patterns are used in a lot of things around us and we just don't notice it at first. Overall this has been such a fun project!
